FAQ

Where is your office located?

5225 Old Orchard Road, Suite #32Skokie, IL 60077

It’s on the south side of Old Orchard Rd., just west of the Edens expressway. The office is in the “Old Orchard Office Court,” which is a complex of one-story, brown brick office suites.

Suite 32 is on the east side of the complex, facing the Hampton Hotel.

It is NOT located in the Old Orchard Shopping Center, which is east of the Edens.

Is it handicapped accessible?

Yes.

What is parking like?

There is ample free parking immediately outside my office suite.

What are your office hours?

I meet with clients days and evenings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; during the day on Thursday; and morning and early afternoon hours on Saturdays.

The office is closed Friday and Sunday.

Do you take insurance?

I am a “fee for service” provider, which means that my policy is to be paid at the time of the session.

For those who would like to access their health insurance benefits, I provide an invoice containing all the information necessary for insurance companies to process a claim.

If a client wants to use insurance, a call can be made to the phone number on the back of the insurance card to ask for an explanation of benefits for outpatient psychotherapy.

What do you charge?

Fees will be discussed during the initial phone contact.

How do I pay?

You can pay me with check, cash, PayPal, or Zelle/Chase QuickPay.

How long are your sessions?

My sessions are 50-55 minutes long. They start on the hour and end at 5 or 10 minutes before the next hour.

Who are you?

I’m a seasoned and experienced therapist with decades of experience – and I love my work.

My bachelor’s degree is in psychology, and master’s degree is in social work. The letters LCSW stand for Licensed Clinical Social Worker, which is my license with the State of Illinois.

I’ve lived in the Chicago area my entire life, and my wife of 39 years and I have raised two sons, who are now adults.

My passion is working with people. Outside of work, I love music, yoga (I’m a yoga instructor.), meditation (I teach courses in meditation), motorcycle riding (Harley), and for over 30 years, I’ve led weekend retreats for men through a non-profit called Victories: www.victoriesformen.org

What can I expect if I come to see you?

You can expect to be treated with respect, courtesy, and compassion.

Initially, meetings are to get to know you and gain an understanding of the things that bring you to my office.

Hopefully, you’ll begin to feel comfortable with me and understand that I am an ally who is 100% committed to helping you with whatever difficulties you may be experiencing.

Then, together we identify areas to be worked on and understood, as well as ways to work on them so you will feel better.

What is an "initial free phone consultation?"

In a first phone contact with a potential client, I will usually spend about 20 minutes discussing with them about why they are calling and what their concerns are.

I may ask a few questions, so we can determine together if it makes sense to set up an appointment to meet in person.

If we determine I’m not the right person for you to see, I will help you find your way to help by providing some referrals.

Sometimes people prefer not to discuss any details over the phone and just want to set the appointment, which is fine. Everything discussed in the call, as well as everything discussed in subsequent sessions, is strictly confidential.

With whom do you work?

I do individual therapy with adult men and women of all ages, as well as adolescents and young adults. I also work with couples and families.

What kind of issues or problems do you help people address?

We address a host of problems, including work/life balance, self-care and wellness, stress, anger management, communication and relationship difficulties, sexuality, parenting, grief, anxiety, depression, substance use/abuse issues and issues with inattention, difficulty focusing, and distractibility.

Sometimes clients come simply to receive help with the frustrations of everyday life, or what’s been referred to as “ordinary unsatisfactoriness.”

Are you LGBTQ friendly?

Yes.

Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?

Yes.
